The initiative of the local government of Iloilo City to construct the Iloilo City Network, an 11-kilometer bike lane, craft policies that support active mobility, safety, and road sharing, as well as promote the biking lifestyle fostered by Ilonggos; deep love for active exercise, are all prerequisites in the promotion of Iloilo City biking as an inclusive, scenic, safe, and sustainable bike hub. With the infrastructure already built and policies institutionalized, the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) supported and funded the promotion of ILOILO CITY: BIKE CAPITAL OF THE PHILIPPINES as a bike-ready city to attract local and foreign tourists, showcase the one-of-a-kind Ilonggo culture, tradition, lifestyle, and cuisine, and revitalize the local economy in the new normal. A partnership between IPG Mediabrands Inc., a media andmarketing specialist located in Metro Manila, and the Iloilo City Government was deemed necessary for the success of the branding.
