Iloilo City Hospital and Medical Arts Building Breaks Ground

Iloilo City Hospital and Medical Arts Building Breaks Ground: The Iloilo City Government, in a social media post, announced the start of the construction of the Iloilo City Hospital and Medical Arts Building. The property had its groundbreaking last week and will be a five-storey level two health facility with a 200-bed capacity. Here are excerpts from the post. With the continuing pandemic caused by COVID-19, government hospitals have played a significant role in the maintenance of the country’s healthcare system. As an essential part of its social and medical mandate, the City of Iloilo will construct a Five (5)-storey Level-2 (200-bed capacity) Hospital located at Barangay San Pedro, Molo. The hospital will be funded by a P500-M loan of the LGU from DBP. The Total Lot Area is approximately 7,135 square meters. With this, the hospital will cover 42% of the lot and rest will be for open spaces, driveways and other facilities that is essential to the function of the hospital. The hospital will include departments such as Emergency, Out-patient, Surgical & Obstetrics, and an Executive Administrative Department. The structure and the dynamics of a healthcare organization shape the quality, effectiveness, and outcome of health services for the community. Thus, the city government has determined the necessity to build, operate, and maintain its own hospital. Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Trenas also shared a statement regarding the development. He reveals that the local government has dedicated P500 million for its construction while former Senator Franklin Drilon dedicated P500 million for medical equipment and Senator Miguel Zubiri with P200 million through the Department of Public Works and Highways.
