After we took over and Maricel Mabaquiao was appointed head of the Local Economic Enterprise Office (LEEO), the collections for the markets exceeded the collection targets every month, every quarter and every year. Even when the vendors were relocated to the streets, the collections were still up. Even during the pandemic, the collections were still up. If the right persons with the right heart to the job are in place, things are right.
I am more excited to see the renovated markets after a year or so – where we will have a clean environment; where there will be clean rest rooms; where there is proper zoning; where there will be parking slots in the roof deck; where there are elevators for the customers; where we can eat batchoy and pancit molo in a clean environment; where we can drink our Madge coffee in a nicer place.
We will even be prouder to be Ilonggos when the time comes. My heart beats for/in Iloilo!”
